Acceptability Evaluation of a Newly Created Nugget for Autistic…
We are conducting this study to learn about:
- If your child and family enjoy a newly developed nugget.
- The nugget was created to be a sensory enjoyable food with balanced nutrition and added fibre.
You qualify to participate if:
- Your Family includes at least one Autistic child with ongoing feeding challenges (selective eating)
- You are fluent in English
You do not qualify to participate if:
- Child or caregiver has disrupted sense of smell or taste.
- Child or caregiver have a co-occurring diagnosis that may affect feeding challenges (e.g., swallowing disorder).
- Caregiver is pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You or your child have a history of allergic reaction to any ingredient in the nugget. An allergic reaction includes the development of any symptom in reaction to consuming a food ingredient such as hives, itching, watery eyes, trouble breathing, or vomiting.
Participation involves:
We will provide you with up to 3 versions of frozen nuggets delivered to your home. Different versions of the nuggets will have slight differences in their texture, shape, or colour.
- We will ask you to prepare and taste the nuggets in your own home.
- We will ask you to offer the nuggets to your child at least 3 times.
- Your child is not required to consume any specific amount of the nugget.
- After you taste the nuggets, we will ask you to complete a survey on your phone. In the survey, we will ask you for your feedback on the nuggets and ask about how your child responded to them.
- If you were provided with multiple versions, we will ask if you have a preferred version of the nuggets.
- The survey will not ask you for any identifying information.
The length of time needed to prepare and try the nuggets will depend on how long your family mealtime is.
The survey will take you less than 10 minutes to complete.
Reimbursement for participation
Participants will receive a $50 gift card for their time.
