Frame of Mind 2016

Paper Projects

Writer’s Block Cafe, La Trobe University  – April-May 2016

To celebrate World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre will again launch its Frame of Mind campaign.  At the heart of this campaign is the exhibition, Paper Projects, supported by LUMA (La Trobe University Museum of Art).  In light of social and communication difficulties that can come with living with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, drawing and art-making can be an important means of communication and expression.

This group exhibition brings together the work of  emerging and established artists:

  • Boris CIPUSEV,
  • Julian MARTIN.

Paper Projects pays homage to the long history of paper as a medium in art and the productive possibilities of the blank page. Four contemporary artists colour the sheet with their own artistic expression, imagination and pigment: gouache, pastel, and watercolour.  Works on paper have an intimacy and a materiality that invite closer scrutiny.

All of the exhibiting artists are represented by Arts Project Australia in Northcote, Victoria.

Visit La Trobe University and support World Autism Awareness Day, OTARC and Frame of Mind.

The exhibition opening hours are:

  • Monday – Friday 8am – 6pm
  • Saturday & Sunday 11am – 3pm

All works are for sale as part of a fundraising initiative for OTARC.  For any enquiries please contact Alex Aulich.
