Early Childhood Paths study

A baby sits with a mother who looks lovingly into their eyes

All babies develop differently – sometimes this is noticeable in the way they play, communicate, or interact with you or their environment.

We are looking for families in Victoria and Tasmania with a young child aged 6 to 18 months old who communicates or interacts differently to other children to take part in a research study. You may have picked up on these differences yourself, or you may have been told this by an educational and/or healthcare provider. We want to understand how these young children are supported in the community.

You may be eligible if:

  • Your child is aged 6 to 18 months old
  • Your child is showing signs of interacting and relating to others differently. You may have picked up on these differences yourself, or you may have been told about these by a healthcare provider.
  • You and your child live in Victoria or Tasmania.

Participation involves you completing surveys and sending us videos three times over twelve months. As a thank you for your time, you will receive a $50 gift card at each of these three time points.

At the end of the study we can also support eligible families to access an autism assessment for their young child in Victoria.
